A modern way to manage buildings
Which space is being used when? Are all the doors and windows shut at night? Is there someone still in the freezer room after closing time? How many people are entering the canteen? What is the air quality in the conference room like? The comprehensive IoT solution Building Monitoring & Analytics has the answers to these questions. Room sensors record people moving, the status of windows and doors, temperature, humidity, brightness or CO2 levels. This data is then encrypted and transmitted to Telekom’s IoT platform, the Connected Things Hub, where it is stored according to German data protection laws. Special software analyzes and visualizes the data in almost real-time, helping lower building management costs and improve customer service. Whenever set thresholds are crossed, the system alerts technicians, so they can intervene.
Your benefits with Building Monitoring & Analytics in overview
Building Monitoring & Analytics is preconfigured and can be used as a retrofit solution. It comprises various sensors, IoT gateways and the Microsoft Azure-based IoT platform the Connected Things Hub. The sensors and gateway use the low-energy wireless network LoRaWAN. In 2019, it will also be compatible with the NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) network standard.
The battery-powered sensors record movement by people, as well as the opening and closing of doors and windows. Moreover, they can measure temperature, humidity, light, noise and CO2levels. Retrofit sensors can also be installed on regular doors, windows, desks and walls.
The cloud-based IoT platform the Connected Things Hub visualizes and analyzes the data, which can be used as the basis for the integration into other IT systems like CAFM, ERP, PLM or CRM. It can be easily expanded for additional users, sensors and gateways. This allows for limited testing of solutions that can later be scaled up to encompass the company’s entire building or campus.
