Our tariffs are as versatile as the Internet of Things
IoT projects can be just as versatile as the possibilities held by the Internet of Things: Their complexity ranges from simple, ready-to-use tracking chips for pallets to the global telemetry data monitoring of cars, which places the highest requirements on safety and country-specific connectivity solutions. Therefore, we have created a tariff portfolio that takes the sheer versatility of IoT projects into account – from standard tariffs with preconfigured SIM cards that enable you to get started quickly, to individual offerings that require very specific solutions and comprehensive service and consulting. As such, we can also find the perfect tariff for your IoT idea.

Rely on the best network for your IoT project
With Deutsche Telekom, your IoT devices will always stay connected within Germany. Not only because Deutsche Telekom's mobile network in Germany was named "best network" for the ninth time in succession by the specialist magazine "Connect!". In addition, we also make use of roaming agreements with all German mobile network providers in special tariffs. If your IoT devices are ever in a location where Deutsche Telekom has no network, they automatically connect to a partner's network.
Stay connected worldwide with Deutsche Telekom
With the Best Coverage tariff option, your IoT devices are not just always connected to the best available network in Germany, but also throughout the world. As an international company, Deutsche Telekom has shares in mobile networks in the USA and in numerous European countries, as well as roaming agreements with more than 600 mobile network providers worldwide. Therefore, your device dials into the network with the best connection that is run by a roaming partner, whichever country it happens to be in. Best Coverage is available for all IoT tariffs.

Our SLA service offers outstanding service – guaranteed
IoT devices often belong to solutions that are of critical importance to the company’s business model. Accordingly, it is vital that you have a dependable partner that provides fast and reliable assistance whenever problems arise. With Deutsche Telekom’s service level agreements (SLAs), on request you will be assigned personal contact persons who will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We monitor the availability of networks, platforms and processes and provide you with regular reports on parameters set by you. The quality of our service is outstanding, which is why it regularly receives the “good” quality seal for customer service from the TÜV Rheinland inspection agency. And our hotline was named the best of all the mobile network providers by the “Chip” specialist magazine. Our service level agreements are available to you as options for the Business Comfort Connect and Business Choice Connect tariffs.

Which IoT tariff is right for my project?
The suitable tariff depends primarily on the complexity of your IoT project and the level of individualisation and service needed. Deutsche Telekom offers different tariffs:
- Our IoT experts can recommend entry-level tariffs to help you quickly get started with your IoT projects.
- Business Comfort Connect is the right tariff for you if you have a more complex project with individualisation requirements that you want to get up and running quickly. In this case, we will compile a custom tariff with attractive pooling conditions for you, comprising modules such as international coverage or usage periods. Within just a few days, you will receive your offer and we will provide comprehensive advice on suitable mobile solutions or additional services, such as secure data connections.
- Business Choice Connect is particularly suited for global IoT projects that require special data security and country-specific connectivity solutions, and are linked to demanding, customer-specific development work. This solution is suitable for automobile groups that wish to provide their customers with global connectivity and telemetry data management, for example.
Why do some IoT tariffs have such low data volumes?
We are now used to seeing smartphone contracts with monthly data volumes in the gigabyte range. This amount is necessary, as the majority of data traffic consists of image and video data on websites, social media and streaming services.
Some IoT mobile network contracts only offer data volumes of several megabytes for several years. This is because certain IoT devices are primarily used for sending and receiving sensor and control data, which requires a far smaller bandwidth. Mobile network technologies developed specifically for the Internet of Things, such as NarrowBand IoT, have therefore been optimised for range and low energy consumption rather than bandwidth. A NarrowBand IoT connection only enables data transfer speeds of up to 250 Kbit/s – approximately 0.8 per cent of the speed provided by a conventional DSL connection.
In what countries can I operate my IoT devices with Telekom tariffs?
As an international company, Deutsche Telekom operates its own mobile networks in the USA, Germany and eleven other European countries, or has shares in these networks. In addition to this, we have a network of 585 roaming partners around the world, 231 of which provide access to data roaming using LTE technology.
With the IoT tariffs, you have access to a comprehensive “home zone”, comprising of over 28 countries with a focus on the EU. Additional country groups can be added.
Furthermore, all tariffs come with the option of using the global SIM and booking the “best coverage” option. Should the Telekom network temporarily not be available in Germany, your IoT devices can also access the networks of other providers with the Best Coverage option. Worldwide, we also have multiple roaming partners in most countries. That way, we can guarantee the best connection for your IoT project.
