Challenge
Hidroconta set out with the goal to optimize the irrigation of its customers’ plantations while also making it more sustainable. A part of that saw building management staff no longer needing to read meter readings on site. The company needed global networking for its planned expansion.
Solution
Hidroconta developed smart meters and irrigation systems which are networked via IoT technology and embedded SIM cards from Deutsche Telekom. They automatically send information regarding the amount of water consumed in encrypted form at regular intervals via NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) to a cloud platform.
Customer benefit
Deutsche Telekom offers a worldwide mobile network and cross-country roaming agreements. Thanks to this global NB-IoT coverage, water meters are networked even in remote locationswithout power. In addition, agribusinesses can efficiently regulate water supply by remotely setting individual times for irrigation.
