Construction machinery stands unused on construction sites or in warehouses and construction companies lack an overview of available units. To increase utilization and efficiency, Sharemac developed tracking modules to locate machines. To do this, the startup was looking for a solution which could network modules and thus make construction machines easy to find.

Solution

Deutsche Telekom fitted the modules with LTE-M SIM cards and helped with configuration and programming. Aside from the position, the modules collect further parameters such as operating time, battery status, or idle time. The files are sent to a central platform via Deutsche Telekom’s machine and sensor network, LTE-M.

Sharemac's customers make optimal use of their fleet. The software enables construction companies to locate and manage their machines and equipment, record operating hours for billing purposes, and obtain an overview of the condition and utilization of their fleet. A theft alarm can also be set up via GPS geofence.

Automobili Pininfarina has developed, in a limited run of 150, the Battista, one of the most advanced and luxurious super sports cars in the world. In order both to offer the driver and passengers comprehensive mobile communications options and, for example, to be able to install over-the-air updates the manufacturer was looking for a way to connect the vehicles around the world.

The Pininfarina Battista comes with integrated eSIMs from Deutsche Telekom. The manufacturer can comfortably manage the connections of all its EVs via a customer portal. The data center in Frankfurt guarantees optimal data protection and maximum data security. Deutsche Telekom provides the mobile network in over 50 countries around the world.

Pininfarina can inter alia carry out remote diagnoses and provides drivers and passengers with a wide range of infotainment services such as real-time route planning inclusive of showing available e-charging stations. The purchase price includes all services and mobile communication connections.

Hidroconta set out with the goal to optimize the irrigation of its customers’ plantations while also making it more sustainable. A part of that saw building management staff no longer needing to read meter readings on site. The company needed global networking for its planned expansion.

Solution

Hidroconta developed smart meters and irrigation systems which are networked via IoT technology and embedded SIM cards from Deutsche Telekom. They automatically send information regarding the amount of water consumed in encrypted form at regular intervals via NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) to a cloud platform.

Deutsche Telekom offers a worldwide mobile network and cross-country roaming agreements. Thanks to this global NB-IoT coverage, water meters are networked even in remote locations without power. In addition, agribusinesses can efficiently regulate water supply by remotely setting individual times for irrigation.

Large quantities of components are transported to the production facilities on the site of the lighting manufacturer. The company hoped to increase the efficiency of this process by deploying self-driving, wirelessly connected vehicles. However, LAN connections are unsuitable for mobile IoT scenarios, while WLAN does not provide the requisite transmission quality.

Solution

OSRAM selected a 4G/5G campus network which combines a local edge cloud and an operator edge cloud in a mobile network. Edge clouds ensure the required minimal latencies and guarantee the smooth deployment of the automated guided vehicles, while the campus network ensures quick communication with the local computing resources.
