Flaschenpost delivers drinks in record time thanks to the Deutsche Telekom IT infrastructure

Drinks delivery service flaschenpost has to react quickly to changes in demand – and computing power from the Microsoft Azure Cloud and a fibre optic connection between the headquarters and the company warehouses make this possible.

„We collaborated with Deutsche Telekom to roll out a new IT infrastructure that enables Flaschenpost to flexibly react to the latest market developments and new customer demands.“

Challenge

Order drinks online and have them delivered within 120 minutes – this is flaschenpost’s business model. However, under high loads, the in-house server capacities at the data centre often reached their limits. The drivers’ handheld devices were also difficult to configure and the wearables could not reliably connect to the networks in the warehouses.

Solution

The headquarters and warehouses are now connected to the internet via a fibre optic connection with a speed of 50 Mbit/s. Flaschenpost has been able to establish a partner network with the support of Deutsche Telekom. Employees work together efficiently via Microsoft Teams and the handheld devices are equipped with SIM cards to aid quick picking and flexible route planning.

Customer benefit

Server capacities in the cloud simply grow with the company. Order peaks are now no longer a challenge for IT and the headquarters and warehouses have a stable internet connection. The handheld devices help staff pick ordered goods quickly and reliably and assign the drivers with the quickest route to the customer.
