nuSIM is Deutsche Telekom’s integrated SIM solution and is built directly into the communications chip. It therefore replaces the separate SIM card as an additional piece of hardware. This saves space, simplifies device design and reduces manufacturing costs. At the same time, it lays the foundation for robust, pre-configured connectivity and supports energy-efficient operation. 

With IoT Embedded Connect, your products are ready for connectivity right from the start. This means devices can be connected at an early stage of the product lifecycle without having to pay monthly charges for a standard tariff – for example, for testing, initial activations or analysing basic usage data. Depending on the use case, you can choose the tariff that best suits your product’s status and connectivity requirements: 

• Dormant Connectivity: Dormant Connectivity is suitable for products that are intended to be connected but are not yet actively in use. This tariff is ideal for end-of-line testing, as well as for devices in production, storage and dispatch.
• Heartbeat Connectivity: Heartbeat Connectivity is designed for products that require initial connectivity in the field. The plan supports initial activations and provides basic usage data, giving you early insights into the status and usage of your devices.

If devices require a higher data allowance from the outset, it is also possible to start with the appropriate standard tariff straight away.

If you need more data allowance or additional services, you can flexibly activate or upgrade to the appropriate IoT Business LPWA data plan at a later date. There are various options for upgrading your plan:

• Usage-triggered upgrade: As soon as the device’s data usage exceeds a predefined threshold, the data plan you have selected will be activated automatically.
• Upgrade triggered via API: You can trigger a switch to a data plan of your choice at any time via an API.
• Upgrade triggered by end date: If an IoT Business LPWA trial tariff has been selected, the data tariff will be automatically activated as soon as the end date of the trial tariff is reached.

With IoT Embedded Connect, the bicycle is fitted with integrated mobile connectivity right from the production stage. This means that, once sold, it can activate additional digital services at any time – such as anti-theft protection, location tracking or usage analytics – without users having to do anything themselves.
