Connected heat pumps for instant setup and live diagnostics

Qvantum Energi AB is a privately owned Swedish energy-tech company at the forefront of the energy transition, designing, manufacturing and developing heat pumps and digital platforms for the energy system of the future. The heat pumps are connected, easy to install, and built on the same modular platform.

“Deutsche Telekom is a strong, well-established global partner we can grow with. Their connectivity ensures every heat pump is online from the very first second. Being an energy-tech provider, that is our unique selling point.”

Challenge

Heat pumps are key to decarbonizing European homes, but many operate as passive, offline machines. Qvantum wants every unit connected for features like remote diagnostics, over-the-air updates, and energy optimization suggestions, without relying on the homeowner’s network.

Solution

Qvantum pairs each heat pump with a cellular modem and a pre-configured Deutsche Telekom IoT SIM card at the factory. When the installer powers on the unit, it connects automatically via 4G. The SIM cards roam across Telekom’s pan-European network, covering all 15+ countries where Qvantum operates. Data profiles with consumption limits ensure secure, controlled connectivity.

Customer benefits

Installers save time because there is no Wi-Fi troubleshooting on site, and Qvantum’s service team can support them remotely during commissioning. End users control their heat pump via a smartphone app, adjusting temperature, receiving alarm notifications, and activating smart energy optimization. A proprietary algorithm downloads hourly electricity prices and automatically shifts heating to low-tariff periods, reducing energy costs by up to 20 %. Qvantum can deploy firmware updates over the air and, in the future, offer a proactive health-check service that detects issues before the homeowner notices thanks to QDoctor, Qvantum's monitoring system. Deutsche Telekom’s single-contract, multi-country connectivity enables Qvantum to scale across Europe without managing separate operator agreements in each market.
